How many of you grew up playing with Play-Doh or using clay? I know I did.
But, what I made was never creative enough to be considered art. That is exactly why when I was done playing, the play doh ended up back in its storage container in a big clump.
What I didn’t know then is that the ability to sculpt miniatures out of clay is actually an intricate, unique form of art.
Check out the details of these flowers made by Ania Wybranowska. The hand shows the size of this sculpture.
Ania doesn’t just sculpt flowers. She also makes food, dishes and clothing items.
When I stumbled on her Instagram page I decided to find out what it takes to make these amazing art pieces. Was I ever in for a surprise!
The first thing I learned was, you can’t use just any polymer clay. Apparently some clay sculpts better than others.
In addition to using the right clay, one needs high quality clay sculpting tools. There are dozens of tools to choose from.
There are just as many instruction books as well. I don’t know about you, but I want to bake my food, not my art.
What a detailed art form this is! The most informative information I found said that in order to become a good sculpture, you have to practice, practice, practice.
I know it isn’t Monday but this would be such a fun challenge. So, I’m breaking all the rules and challenging you to make some polymer clay art and share it with us.
Since May the fourth be with you just past, maybe you could sculpt baby yoda. Or, use your sculpting abilities to show an amazing nurse your appreciation, after all, it is nurses day.
Maybe your art can be taken from the headlines. We’d love to see you create a miniature earth with a Chinese rocket tumbling to earth.
If I’ve learned nothing from these blogs it’s that you don’t need my silly suggestions. The Her Blaze artists are amazingly creative and send art that I could never have dreamed of!
As Serena Williams said, “everyone’s dream can come true if you just stick to it and work hard.” Let us help you with your dream!
Submit your art to Her Blaze and become one of our artists! Let us celebrate you and your talent.
As always, we want to see all kinds of art but today, we especially want to see your polymer clay sculptures. We want to appreciate every last detail you pour into your pieces.
There’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll knock our socks off! Aside from polymer clay art, I’d also love to see some uplifting positive art from South Carolina.
I know that’s an odd request but after the South Carolina house voted to add firing squad as a means of completing the death penalty, I need someone to restore my faith in humanity through art!
So, as we look at and enjoy all the great submissions you guys are about to send, please, as Ellen Degeneres said, “be kind to one another”.
