Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the Her Blaze mom’s out there! We hope you had an amazing day.
Even though today is the day after Mother’s Day, I thought we would still use this as a challenge. If your family is anything like mine, we make Mother’s Day gifts.
As I looked at what my son made for me, it made my heart so happy. What better way to appreciate his heartfelt gesture than to use it as an example of some great art!
So, that is this week’s challenge. We want to see the art made for you for Mother’s Day.
Before you make the excuse, “I am not a mom” or “I didn’t give birth to them”, let me share something from a mother’s perspective. We have all heard that saying, ‘it takes a village’.
There is so much truth to that statement. We live in a blended family and my kids have the most amazing bonus mom ever.
There is some validity in “choosing” your mom. My kids didn’t necessarily choose her, but she chooses to love them and care for them as if they are her own.
That is what being a mom is. She didn’t have to give birth to them to care for them and love them unconditionally.

Mother’s are often considered the glue that holds the family together. For us, that is absolutely the case.
Both moms, birth mom and bonus mom, are the glue that holds our family together.
So, help us to keep celebrating the awesome Her Blaze moms. Share with us the art that was made for you.
Share with us the story behind the art. We even want to hear about what being a mom means to you.
Mothers are often a source of inspiration and we are always looking to be inspired.
This is one of the pieces of art our son made. He painted the beach, knowing how much we love the ocean.
For us, it is the perfect gift. He picked out all the supplies he used and then proceeded to paint independently.
It is something our family will cherish forever. We know you all received some equally meaningful art and can’t wait for you to share it with us.

As Canadian actress, Jessalyn Gilsig said, “motherhood has taught me the meaning of living in the moment and being at peace. Children don’t think about yesterday, and they don’t think about tomorrow. They just exist in the moment.”
A special thank you from me to the amazing women in my son’s lives, Hannah, Naomi and Kassie. Hannah, you are such an amazing bonus Mom, providing our boys with love and laughter every day.
Naomi and Kassie, you are perfect Aunts. Spoiling and teaching the boys things no one else can. I know you’re not ‘moms’ but you are an integral part of our ‘village’.
With the three of you on our side, I know my boys will never want for nothing. We are eternally grateful.
As we leave you with our Mother’s Day challenge, our condolences go out to the Obama family who lost former ‘first dog’ Bo Saturday.
He was a trusty sidekick who served two terms as part of the first family. Our hearts go out to you!
