Molly Nixon-Karistinos is one of our amazingly talented Her Blaze artists. She showcases her unique creativity in many different art forms, such as painting, theater, dance, fashion and literature.

Talk about a ‘quintuple’ threat! Molly grew up in Ocean City, NJ and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

That alone is quite an accomplishment!

Molly considers herself eccentric, expressive and marches to the beat of her own drum. What makes her an admirable artist is her ability ”to create strong pieces that not only convey the hardships of her own life, but those of others as well.

The exposure of these judgements and stigmas allow for voices seldomly seen or heard.” This mixed media picture titled “woman in red” is one that can be interpreted in many different ways.

Is she sharing the natural beauty of a woman’s body? Or maybe there’s a deeper message in the fact that the body is visible but the face is not?

Either way, her work is jaw-dropping!

When we have an artist who uses their art to make impactful, necessary statements, it makes my mind wander.

Like, what if they created a piece based on climate change or sustainability? What would it look like?

What art would Molly create if she was addressing why people continue to think killing an elephant for their ivory tusks?

It is so admirable that she creates art with a purpose and message. She doesn’t care who it upsets.

In fact, my guess is, there is some hope people will get upset because these ‘touchy’ subjects need to be talked about!

One touchy subject I’d love to see Molly’s interpretation of is the recent information releases about Ellie Kemper and her involvement in a The Veiled Prophet Organization — a secretive and exclusive society run for decades by wealthy White families. Would Ellie’s apology impact the piece Molly would create?

As a wildfire rages through Arizona and tornado warnings for Denver, I hope you will head over to Molly’s Instagram page to see more examples of her creative, unique art!

One of the most talented human beings ever said, “we need art as much as we need good works. You need it like food. You need it for inspiration to keep going on the days that you’re low.”

We couldn’t agree more. We need art and we want the world to see and appreciate all that being an artist has to offer.

We are incredibly proud to call Molly Nixon-Karistinos one of our Her Blaze artists!
