Sansanee Termtanasombat is our featured artist this month. She is an original origami artist from Thailand.

Being an original artist means that she comes up with the designs and instructions herself. Let me tell you how difficult that is.

I have recently spent time attempting origami using both a diagram showing me how, where and when to fold, along with a video of someone actually doing the art…and I have failed every time.

I can’t imagine doing what Sansanee does!

Check out this piece she created. Her intricate design was brought to life by her ability to fold pristine edges and to combine the paper in eye pleasing ways.

You can even watch her create this piece on her Youtube tutorial. As you watch her video, you will see firsthand how difficult and detail oriented this art form can be.

Traditional origami consists of folding a single sheet of square paper into a sculpture without cutting, gluing, taping, or even marking it. Often, as seen here, colored paper is used as a way to make the design more appealing and detailed.

What makes it even more amazing is that she decided to create art while fighting a battle with Bipolar Disorder. Just another example of a Her Blaze artist with talent and strength.

It is weird to me that the definition or description of origami is “the art of folding paper” because it is so much more in-depth than that, as this piece by Praew proves.

She had to determine paper choices and folding methods. Did you know there’s a term called ‘wet-folding’?

There is so much I don’t know about origami but in reviewing the above piece, I am intrigued and in awe of Praew’s talent!

Praew, as she is known by, created this spectacular piece as part of a larger project she is creating called PrwOrigami. She is on a  mission to collect 1000 kusudamas, mostly designed by herself.

Can you imagine creating 1000 of these? My fingers hurt just thinking about it.

To find out more about her mission, you can check out her Website. She also has a large portion of her art showcased on her Instagram page.

As you visit her page, you will see she does so much more than dolphins and other animals.

I’d almost like to challenge her to create an Xbox One or Nintendo Switch in origami form.

After all, games like Fortnite are extremely popular and would bring this old art form modern day support!

We are so thrilled to share Praew with you as our featured artist for October.

Make sure you head to her social media pages and give her your support.

If you’re an artist like Praew and want your chance at becoming a featured artist for Her Blaze, head to our website to find out what you need to do!

We’d love to welcome you as part of the family!
