On a regular basis, Her Blaze tries to provide artists with opportunities to get their art seen.
Each call for art is unique but I am pretty excited about the one I’m sharing this week!
Big Screen Plaza has a call for art that you don’t want to miss!
“Each day during this pandemic, many of us across New York City and the world unite at 7PM to #ClapForOurCarers and #ClapBecauseWeCare to show support for our incredible health care and essential workers. Inspired by this movement, we at Big Screen Plaza have started #CreateBecauseWeCare, a public art contest to broadcast all-day messages of support, thanks, and hope on our 30-foot digital billboard in the heart of New York City!”
Maybe I’m a bit biased because I’ve worked as an essential, frontline health care worker, but I love this opportunity, not only for the artists who get to display their work, but also those they choose to honor through their artwork.
We have some pretty amazing Her Blaze artists who already have pieces that would be perfect for this call for art.
Kristin J Frost created this poignant drawing that would look great on a billboard.
Some other Her Blaze artists who have created perfect art for this are Rachel Berkowitz Art, RockFun503, and Aileen Joy, just to name a few. Imagine seeing those pieces flashing on a billboard in New York City!
Not sure what exactly they are looking for? Here’s what their website says:
•The first thing I will do when this is all over. How I am doing my part to stay-at-home or support relief efforts
• A message of Thanks to our healthcare and essential workers
• A Positive message of hope and optimism
• Print & color one of these Templates: https://bit.ly/BSPTemplates
• Or come up with your own!
You can follow their Instagram Page for updates on this contest.
Big Screen Plaza states, “Big Screen Plaza is a 10,000 sq. ft. public plaza located in Manhattan between the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden that features a 30 ft. HD digital screen. Throughout the year, the screen displays a rotating collection of digital exhibitions, including photography, animation, visual art, and more. While social distancing rules are currently in place, many of the people walking through the plaza during this time are health care and essential workers. This is a great opportunity to provide them with encouraging messages of hope, optimism, and thanks.”

As COVID vaccines are approved for kids, famous football players like Aaron Rodgers take a stand against vaccines and end up with COVID, and our hospitals are still at or near capacity, I think a positive focus on this deadly pandemic is needed!
So share your thoughts with us below.
Are you going to submit your art for this amazing display?
